We're currently looking for volunteers to help out with our upcoming Dance for Parkinson's classes and need your help! So if you have a spare couple of hours on Wednesday afternoon (and the occasional Friday), live locally to Camberley (Surrey) and would like to help make a difference in the community, then we would really love you to get on board. All we ask of volunteers is that they join us once a week for the Dance for Parkinson's class and give us a hand setting up the venue, supporting me during the session (by engaging with the participants, helping with the CD player, moving chairs etc.) and serving teas and coffees at the end. There are no prerequisites for volunteering - so please don't think you have to be an experienced dancer or have expert knowledge of Parkinson's - but we are looking for people who are patient, enthusiastic, able to use their initiative and willing to join in with the dancing. If movement doesn't come naturally to you, that's fine, so long as you give it your best try and have a big smile on you face while doing it! It would also be useful if you were physically fit (i.e. able to support participants who may have difficulty with mobility without putting your own health and wellbeing at risk), but I would never want to exclude anyone from volunteering on the grounds of health conditions or disability, so do get in touch anyway. Although we won't be able to pay you for your time, in return for your kindness, you will be reimbursed with tea/coffee and biscuits and will, we hope, have lots of fun working with us. It's an opportunity to meet new people, discover the joys of movement and make a difference in local people's lives, so I can assure you you won't regret deciding to volunteer. To get a better flavour of what volunteering might involve (find out more here) get in touch with me via the CONTACT page. Alternatively, if you've already made up your mind and would like to volunteer, you can download the application form here:
